An Introduction

Allow me to introduce myself  I am Model Mom’ (think tall, fantastically shaped woman standing on a mountain top with the wind blowing in her hair and her cape dancing in the wind).  Okay,  back to reality the closest I come to that description is tall.  And the only time wind is blowing through my hair is when the window on my mini-van is down on the four days of the year it is not too humid for air conditioning.  In all actuality, I am the suburban mother of five beautiful children; three boys and two girls.  My two girls are models and my three boys could be if they wanted to, but would rather curl up in a ball and wither away than venture into the world of modeling.  I think I still have a chance to convince my youngest two boys that modeling is a manly pursuit but I think the oldest has pretty much decided that it is not for him.  I spend a good portion of my life schlepping my children around to various activities.  And all of my disposable income goes to the increasingly hungry, never satisfied money pit  I call my children.  Enough about me for now on to why I am here.

Isn’t it amazing how you can take two seemingly happy, nice words and put them together only to give them a negative connotation.  For example:  pageant mom, dance mom, stage mom, hockey mom, etc.  Each word by itself is something that makes you smile.  Yet when you put them together, you get something out of a horror show.  I am going to assume it has something to do with the competition involved in all of these examples.  That and reality television, which shows the seedy underbelly of pageants and dance.  Please keep in mind, these shows can edit to make anyone look like a lunatic. (Although with some, I am sure it didn’t take too much editing!)  I want Model Mom to have a great connotation when you think of it!  First you get to think of me, high upon that mountain top.  No really, I want people to be proud to call themselves a ‘Model Mom.  I would love to foster a great cooperation amongst ‘Model Moms.  Yes, there is fierce competition in modeling but there are also tons of opportunities as well.

I hope to take you along on our fantastic ride.  Maybe you will even decide to join us!  I will be starting with our very first experience last year and will work my way through each of our experiences until I am current.  Hopefully what I have to say will keep you amused and informed enough to come back for more.  Until next time, Model Mom signing off.

Remember, you really make an impression when you are beautiful inside not just on the outside.
